He looked out of the hangar bay of the carrier. The Earth seemed much more peaceful from low orbit. His landing was scheduled for 0213. He did the final check on his dropsuit. No amount of safety checks and redundancies could quite calm a person when they were about to drop 1374.1 km. The light above the hangar bay door turned green, the drop had started. That's when the training took over. He started a jog toward the hangar door, increasing to a run, to a sprint, and in the last few feet toward the void he took two final steps...
